First RASSPL Competition of the season

Saturday the 30^th of June will mark the opening RASSPL Border Blacktips angling competition of the 2018/2019 season and there is no better place along our Coast to Host this but at Picturesque Kidds Beach seaside village. We can already confirm that we have so far collected and purchased close to R20000 worth of prizes for this season opener with four premium fishing reels including the very Popular Shimano Saragosa grinder along with others with a combined value of over R12000! Anglers can expect to see a similar trend going forward for the entire season, Themore entries the bigger the Prizes so its all up to you the angler!Tickets are already on sale at both Bilimoria outlets as well as at Quality Baits in the SBDC centre. Our competitions are 100% strictly catch and release! We would also like to say a BIG welcome to Beck Outdoor Clothing and Gear as an official sponsor and clothing and apparel supplier to the Border Blacktips! They are already hard at work designing our brand new range of team clothing.

Anyone can enter any of our events but there are two ways to enter our rock and surf angling competitions, either as a paid member or as a visitor. Visitors simply pay the R150 entry and compete on the day for the days’ prizes on offer, no strings attached. Becoming a Paid member, the annual fees are R500 which gives you a reduced entry fee of only R50 per competition and this entitles you to be included into a special “members only” prize category per competition, A place on our exclusive season points leader board, inclusion into the official awards ceremony at the end of the year where you could walk away with a medal or trophy for your efforts throughout the season, eligibility to be selected to represent the Border Blacktips at the annual nationals event as well as benefitting from any specials or discounts offered by the Border Blacktips for events and merchandise including team attire, not to mention simply being part of an awesome team and enjoying the competitiveness and comradery. There are 8 competitions at various locations in and around East London per season. Juniors under 16 fish free!

The biggest misconception we have with our Border Blacktips angling team and events is that inexperienced anglers or people brand new to angling think we are abig professional rock and surf angling league that only accommodate the serious and experienced angler out there whereas in fact, that is the furthest thing from the truth. We quite simply have 8 awesome fishing competitions per “season” with top prizes that anyone can enter and the most friendly anglers, we have a very unique points system developed by Rhodes University that quite literally bring all the anglers onto the exact same level playing field making it completely fair to everyone entering, we have inexperienced anglers beating the most experienced on a regular basis at every competition and everyone I can assure you, has the most enjoyable time doing what they love with truly amazing people. Registration for this Kidds Beach competition will be with Sharon on Friday the 29^th of June from 2pm at Chelsea Square B&B in Selborne otherwise you can register on the morning of the comp in front of the Kidds Beach tearoom from 05h30 with John. Anglers wanting to become a paid member can also pay their subs at both of these registrations. Competition start time is 7am with all scorecards tobe handed in by no later than 15h00 to our scorers at Palm Springs Holiday Resort. The fishing area for this competition is from Igoda River to Ncera River just west of Palm Springs. Prize giving will follow as soon as all scores are finalised, normally commencing at 16h00.
